Episode 16: Now That You Are Here; A Tale of Deception and Betrayal

[Excerpt from Episode 15: Get out now! I don’t want to see you Muyiwa, get the hell out of my house.” She screamed and Muyiwa tried to protest but Anu pleaded with her eyes for him to leave. Taking an exasperated breath, Muyiwa walked out of house. His world was crumbling around him and it was all because of one person, Damilola.]  To read episode 15, CLICK HERE

His heart was beating fast in his chest as he ran out of the house.  What have I done? He thought to himself as he yanked the door of his car open and got in hurriedly. He turned the key in the ignition and sat down there for a moment as what had just happened played in his mind. He had left Halima’s house with rage and hate in his blood. He hated Damilola for all that she represented.

Episode 15: Now That You Are Here; A Tale of Deception and Betrayal

[Excerpt From Episode 14: He protested in a weak tone and she shut him up with a kiss as she placed his hand on her breast and squeezed lightly. He kissed her back then and she pulled him up as she led him into the bedroom like a lamb being led to the slaughter. Mission accomplished she thought as she smiled to herself and closed the bedroom door after them.] To read Episode 14: CLICK HERE

Muyiwa’s was at home with Halima about three days after his meeting with Damilola. Halima was over at his place and they were both watching the 7pm news when a knock sounded on the door and Halima went to get it. Muyiwa smiled to himself as he wondered how he had been so lucky to have such a wonderful woman. He smiled to himself and said a silent prayer of thanks to the Heavens for having helped him control the situation with Damilola.

Episode 14: Now That You Are Here; A Tale of Deception and Betrayal

[Excerpt from Episode 13: “This madness has gone on for too long, I would be a very bad friend if I let this nonsense go on. It is time I do something about it. I have watched you make a fool of yourself just because I felt you knew what you were doing but it’s apparent you don’t. Halima and I need to have a talk. She must not marry that pig, pregnancy or no pregnancy.”]

Anu hurried into the almost empty restaurant and sighted Halima right away. She was sitting at the far end of the restaurant with her back to the door and her dark head bent over her phone. Anu sighed resignedly with what she was about to do of telling Halima all about Damilola and Muyiwa’s affair. This is going to be a betrayal you know, a voice in her head said but she quickly shut it out. I am simply trying to save them from themselves, she chided herself silently.

Episode 13: Now That You Are Here; A Tale of Deception and Betrayal

[Excerpt from Episode 12: He stared at her with a rueful smile on his face before he said “I am getting married Dammy.” Her heart stopped in her chest and she suddenly felt hurt, the pearls suddenly felt like they were burning her skin and she took another look at his face. Muyiwa caught her by the arm just as she was about to grab the door and jerked her back. She fell into him and he staggered a bit. His hold loosened and she tried to make another run for it but he was quicker than her and had her by the arm again. He turned her around to face him and she pounded at his chest angrily.

“Let me go damn it!” she said, pummeling his chest with her hands as the tears flowed from her eyes.

Episode 11 - Now That You Are Here; A Tale of Deceit and Betrayal

[Excerpt from Episode 10: They were both on the roller coaster of pleasure when Gbade’s voice broke through the cloud of passion “Damilola…” his voice sounded like it came from a thousand miles away but it was enough cold water to dampen the hot fire. The two sprung apart as they faced Gbade standing there, a briefcase in one hand and a box of chocolates in the other]. To read episode 10 CLICK HERE

The two sprung apart as if their bodies were on fire. Muyiwa was the first to take control and he tried to maintain a bland expression as he stared at Gbade’s face which was contorted with rage. Damilola on the other hand bowed her head in shame and refused to meet Gbade’s gaze as for some few seconds they all stood in silence with Gbade’s eyes darting from one guilty person to the other. His reaction was so unexpected that it took all of them by surprise.

Damilola wringed her hands together nervously as she and Anu waited for Gbade’s flight to arrive. It was like the last time all over again but this time she wasn’t nervous in an excited sort of way. Truth was she didn’t know exactly how she felt, who would have believed that the thought of Gbade would throw her into such a state of confusion.

She pulled the tip of her hair nervously as she stepped into the doctor’s office. It wasn’t like she owed anybody an explanation on why she was getting rid of the baby but it still felt embarrassing telling a doctor she wanted an abortion.

Now That You Are Here: A Tale of Deception and Betrayal (Episode 3)

[Excerpt from Episode 2: Just then, the phone shrilled and she opened her eyes inquiringly, it was Gbade’s phone and she wondered who could be calling by 11:30 at night. He gave her a quick kiss on the lips as he rolled away from her and picked up his phone. He stared at her sheepishly as she fixed him with an icy look, she folded her arms under her naked breasts and he nodded apologetically as he answered the phone. The effrontery of Gbade! Fuming silently she stood up from the bed and snatched her bra that had been discarded in the heat of passion from the floor. She stalked out of the room with all the anger clear in her body and slammed the door behind her for emphasis.

Now That You Are Here: A Tale of Deception and Betrayal (Episode 2)

[Excerpt from Episode 1]: …He stared at her sheepishly with the guilt all over his face, bowing his head slightly, he reached blindly for her as she evaded his touch. She ran out of the room as he called to her… (Read Episode 1 HERE)
He reached her just as she was about to open the door, he grabbed her and enveloped her in a hug from behind. She sagged into him with her head bowed and allowed him. “I am so sorry Dammy, really sorry.” His voice came in a hoarse whisper into her ear and she fought against the pool of tears in her eyes. The past two years had seen her warding off different men; the attractive, the ugly, the rich, the pauper wanting her to do ‘surulere.’

Making A Long Distance Relationship Work

Being in a long distance relationship can sometimes be a drag or out rightly frustrating. Your friends have their lovers around them while yours is miles away from you making the world seem bleak. It is not your fault you got struck by cupid’s arrow and the object of your affection happens to be on the other side of the world. Thoughts of how nit cannot work is running through your head and you are about to give up on your long distance relationship? Not to worry, here are a few tips that might help you.

Talk Always: The fact that you are in a long distance relationship automatically means you cant get to see your boo all the time or as much as you want. Substitute the physical contact with constant communication. You cannot talk too much to each other and luckily we live in a modern age where there are so many cool channels of communication. Explore the platforms of Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo Messenger, 2go, Badoo, WeChat, MySpace and the common IM platforms of BBM or Whatsapp. Talking with each other always helps take away the feeling of being alone and makes you feel connected to him or her. The more you talk, the more the distance seems meaningless.

Be Honest: Just like every other relationship, long distance relationships become useless and pointless when it is built on lies. Be opened and honest with your lover. Telling him/her the truth allows for the relationship to grow smoothly. However in being honest, be careful not to talk about unnecessary things like who you are having a crush on or the new guy or girl that caught your fancy.

Visit Each Other: You would have probably heard the saying that distance is crap when the love is true. To an extent this may be true but there are times when you feel so alone that you feel you need to see your special someone. Distance makes the heart grow fonder but you make your presence also valueable so that your absence is meaningful. Plan visits to see one another and make sure it is convenient for the both of you. Whoever is traveling to see who must be totally comfortable and all necessary arrangements must be made with all details checked before the trip is embarked on. Having a visit schedule on how often you want to see each other usually helps like whether you want to see once or twice a month.
Video Chat: While planning trips or the hassles of a travel may be a bit expensive r stressful for you. It costs less in terms of energy and money to video chats. Don’t just talk over the phone or chat, try and see each other through video chats. Take advantage of Skype and get chatting. It helps take away the strain of not seeing; I remember once singing for my girlfriend on Skype after she complained of a stressful day (even if my voice was worse than the croak of a frog).

Surprises: Who says you can’t have all the thrills of a normal relationship in a long distance relationship. Spice up your affair, surprise your darling with the occasional gifts (not necessarily something too expensive), send e-cards, pay a surprise visit (don’t do anything too crazy though). Stuffs like this helps keep the excitement in the relationship.

Do Things Together: Your friends are going on dates with their sweeties and you stuck at home with no one to cuddle with, don’t get all moody, there are many things to keep you occupied. Find something doing with your loved one. You can both decide to watch a movie together simultaneously and talk about it as it goes on, play online games together, send pictures to each other to show off your new look, a new dress or that nice shoe you just get.

Having been in a long distance relationship for a while now, these are tips that have helped my relationship grow and even my friend has been able to learn one or two things as my relationship encouraged him to get into a long distance affair as well some months back.
