Celebrity Facts: Things You Might Not Know About D Banj


D Banj is one Nigerian celebrity that doesn't need much introdcudion as his music speaks for him. Popularly known under the performance names of D Banj, Koko Master, Eja Nla, Ski Banj among many others, his real name is Dapo Oyebanjo and was born in Zaria, Kaduna.

At the the age of 11 he was enrolled into the Nigerian Military School but he disenrolled after spending three years there. Apart from being a musician many know him as being a harmonica player but many do not know that he was introduced to the harmonica by his late older brother Femi. Femi died in a plane crash at the age of seventeen.

Did you know that D Banj's hit song "Fall in Love"had two music videos? The first featured models as video vixens but had negative reviews as fans believed the video didn't portray the doing well and he shot another version.

The second version of Fall in Love was released May 4, 2010 and it featured star actress Genevieve Nnaji and had them kissing in the video. This sparked off rumours of the two dating.

D Banj later split from Mo HiNo, a record label he was the vice president of before the split and after the split became the president with ace producer Don Jazzy foundina new label named Mavin Records.

During the split, Don Jazzy moved out of the mansion they shared together in Lekki Phase 1 to stay with popular singer Dr. Sid who was also signed under Mo Hits.

As if to show that they were back to being friends, D Banj and Don Jazzy performed Fall in Love together at D Banj's sister wedding for the first time after their split.

In June 2011 D Banj was signed to international rapper Kanye West's G.O.O?D Music record label.

D Banj is best known internationally for his monster hit song Oliver Twist which was a top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 2012 and peaked at number 2 on the UK R&B chart.
